Graveside services for Sherry Wallace Newsome, 63, of Thomson Road, Washington, were held Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Leonard Dupree and Rev. Jimmy Newsome officiating. She died Thursday, November 26, at her home.
Mrs. Newsome was the daughter of Blanche Henderson Wallace and the late Henry Newton Wallace of Lincolnton. She was a devoted caregiver and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, G.B. Newsome Jr., Washington; a son, Burt Newsome of Washington; two daughters, Rebecca Shane Gaines of Nicholson, and Shannon Elizabeth Thomason of Tignall; three grandchildren, Trace Newsome, Tanner Barnett, and Taylor McAvoy; a brother, Garnett Wallace of Lincolnton; and a sister, Nan W. Goff of McCormick, S.C.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to T.J. and Friends Foundation Inc., 1675 Deep Creek Road, Dewy Rose, Ga. 30634, or to the Cancer Relief Fund, 2090 Thomson Road, Washington 30673.
Rees Funeral Home of Lincolnton was in charge of arrangements.
