Clement E. Sutton Jr.

Funeral services for Clement E. Sutton Jr., 95, of Boxford, Mass., were held Saturday, May 9, 2009, in the First Church Congregational, Boxford. Burial was in Village Cemetery. He died May 2, at his home.

Mr. Sutton was a native of Wilkes County and was the son of the late Clement E. Sutton and Berta Green Sutton. He was married to the late Willena Zachry Sutton for 66 years. He was a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, Class of 1934, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He began his professional career with the Georgia Power Company in Atlanta and later was associated with the General Electric Company for over 40 years. He attained the level of vice-president, group executive of the industrial group in Lynn, Mass., retiring in 1975. He had been a longtime resident of the Town of Boxford and was an active member and elder of the First Church Congregational.

Survivors include three daughters, Harriet Yamashita and her husband Katsuyoshi of Boxford, Jane Piedagnel and her husband Joseph of Hicksville, N.Y., and Elizabeth Sutton of Santa Fee, N.M.; a son, Clement E. Sutton III and his wife Nina of Londonderry., N.H.; 10 grandchildren, and seven greatgrandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Debt Reduction Fund for the Family Life Center at the First Church Congregational, Boxford, 4 Georgetown Road, Boxford, Mass 01921.
