Graveside services for Grace Newsome Speer. 92, of Tampa, Fla., will be held Friday, May 15, 2009, at Resthaven Cemetery, Washington. A memorial service will follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Washington.
Mrs. Speer was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Alexander Stephens Newsome and Ada Combs Newsome. She was the widow of Emmett Lawson Speer. She had been a resident of Tampa, Fla., since 1949, and had worked for 37 years as an office manage for a CPA firm. She was an active resident of John Knox Village in Tampa at the time of her death. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Washington and an associate member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Washington, and Temple Terrace United Methodist Church, Tampa.
