Funeral services for Lucy Mae Evans, 89, of Rayle were held Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Lyonsville Baptist Church, Rayle, with Pastor Garnie Shorter officiating. She died Saturday, March 14. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Evans was born in Rayle to the late Rosie Lee Ector (Williams) and Willie Jordan. She and her late husband, Paul Evans, raised 12 children. She was a homemaker whose hobbies included sewing, fishing, and gardening. She was a member of the Lyonsville Baptist Church where she served on the Mother Board.
Mrs. Evans is survived by 10 of her children, Katie Childs, Rosie Foster and her husband James, Lucinda Evans, Mary and Jim Tillman, Allentown, Pa., Lila Evans of Smyrna, Jimmy Evans, Willie R. Evans, Daisy Evans, and Claudette Jones of Washington, and Dorothy J. and Janard Dodd of Lithonia; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren.
Davenport-McLendon Mortuary of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
