Graveside services for Mary Virginia Taylor Wheless, 85, of Washington were held Friday, July 10, 2009, in Resthaven Cemetery, Washington, with Rev. Glen Kohlhagan officiating. She died Wednesday, July 8, at her home.
Mrs. Wheless was a native of Taliaferro County and was the daughter of the late Alva Grey and Mary Fitz Taylor. She was a retired merchandiser for Revco and a member of the Washington Presbyterian Church. She was the widow of Robert Clinton Wheless.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Cynthia Logan Wheless of Washington; a daughter and son-in-law, Tessa and Robert L. Steed, North Augusta; a sister, Sara Frances Mathis, Chesapeake, Va.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers included Haven Wheless, Chad Steed, Brent Steed, David Gay, William Morrison, and Karl Hughey. Pete Taylor and Larry Taylor served as honorary pallbearers.

Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
